They used to be a bowling league in the days of Pat Buchanan
But Robert Little first threw down that mitt to my way of understanding
Robert gathered swagger talking Yankee talk with Dave our dandy patron daddy
Might hex the Mets to whom Deden genuflects with their hefty mention doubted
Saw his note on the old tack board about an indie rock baseball team
Dave went out and bought some bats and balls kind of lent the whole thing steam
If you ever stop at the record shop down below the Antiquarium
Dave would talk ball all day with y’all him and his side kick austerians
Might not have mentioned his umpiring days a dashing player he swore
But the compromise was a finer prize than to never play with him no more
Robert Little cried when them Mondays died of disinterest dysentery
All that’s left were guys with fire in their eyes and their wives if they was married
Now the record store’s on thirteenth street run by Joseph and by Bry Bry
